Four...

Four days and a wake-up! Now I am the one feeling like we should be packing. When you get down to the point when one hand can indicate the number of days before heading out, you know that you are a short-timer!

Dawn is so excited that she can hardly contain herself. In fact, you might be surprised to find out that it is now 9:30pm and she is sound asleep on the couch "watching" tv. It is kind of cute, because when she wakes up she will insist that she really wasn't sleeping, just resting her eyes! She is still really cute when she sleeps. After all, 9:30 is really late, wouldn't you say?! haha

We are hoping to make one of our stops on the Great Adventure in Farmington, NM, to see my old Air Force roommate -Rick Francher. It has been years since we have seen each other so I googled him this afternoon and up popped his facebook page, go figure! I was hoping for a simple phone number or something along that line and found his whole life history along with a family tree. Well, not a real family tree, but several relatives and others named Francher! Isn't the internet amazing?!

Rick actually drove from L.A. to Erie with me - straight through with no stops when I came back to marry Dawn. We packed a cooler with sandwiches and pop, threw it into the back seat of my 1970 GTO [ohhh yeahhhh, 455 c.i.d. big block, four on the floor, 50's all the way around mounted on mags, dual exhaust cherry bombs and black jack headers! One hot ride! Literally - it had no air conditioning.] ...let's see, where was I... Oh, yes, Rick. We swapped off driving straight through to Erie, Pa, which equates to about 46 hours on the road! That included an eight hour detour around the southern Rockies because I-40 was closed to Flagstaff due to a blizzard in March, so we had to drop south through Phoenix and back up to 40. What a trip!

Of course, Rick got stopped for speeding in New Mexico. After the officer had all the paperwork in his hand - Rick's California drivers license, my Pa. drivers license, the cars Washington State license plate number written down, and the temporary California registration - he decided to let us off with a warning. Reading between the lines; way too much paperwork!

Did I mention, four days and a wake up?!!!
